Seek to Find
My first birth was November 30, 1928 at 12:01 a.m. My second birth was July 12, 1945, Thursday about 10 a.m. I had been seeking God for several years, when I read, “Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out” John 6:37 (KJV), as directed by a brother in the Lord. Faith appeared from deep within. I realized that I had a choice of accepting or rejecting Jesus! I jumped to choose Him! My profession of faith was made the following Sunday and was baptized July 15, 1945. My seeking of the Lord grew and continues today, not for regeneration but for more of the Lord.
In January 1980, I received a letter from a believer in Van Horn, Texas praising the Lord and informing one that a local church exists in Shreveport, Louisiana. Being unable to locate it, I requested directions. In March 1980 my wife and I walked into the meeting hall on Shirley Frances Road. There was much difference from any denominational church I had ever attended. Without a music director, the singing was enthusiastic and glorious! There was no preacher, but the speaking was deeply informative and genuine. I recognized the presence of the Spirit and that He was controlling this meeting and the believers. I realized that this was the place where I could gain Christ and enjoy Him.
I had searched the Bible, Christian literature, denominations, and seminary for truth, but I finally found it when I began to hear the speaking of Witness Lee and Watchman Nee. Without them, I would still be confused and unhappy.
The local church is a place where we have each other and Christ. In this atmosphere, I am enjoying growth in Christ.
